about PRUE
Prue Newton brings a rare combination of academic expertise and hands-on underwater experience to Universal Apnea. A commercial diver, former confined space rescue diver, and specialist in cave and wreck diving, Prue holds a Master of Maritime Archaeology and First Class Honours in Archaeology - grounding her work in both science and field practice. Her background in risk management, emergency response, and aquatic performance directly supports Universal Apnea's evidence-based approach to breathwork, safety education and emergency training.
As a commercial diver and former confined space rescue diver, Prue has extensive experience working in challenging underwater and hazardous environments. Her specialist background in cave and wreck diving has developed a deep understanding of risk management, underwater performance, emergency response, and human factors in demanding aquatic conditions.
Prue's blend of scientific research, field archaeology, technical diving, and rescue operations provides valuable insight into the safety, education, and emergency services programs delivered by Universal Apnea. Her practical experience and passion for the underwater environment contribute to the organisation's evidence-based approach to breathwork, aquatic performance, survival skills, and emergency preparedness.
