The Swimming Australia x Pho3nix Foundation Junior Excellence (JX) Program is an amazing program for swimmers aged 9 to 13 years, who accomplish times set by Swimming Australia and qualify at gold, silver, bronze or blue standard, depending on their best performances during the season. The JX Program athletes are treated to clinics run by a variety of high performance coaches that work to build on existing skills and knowledge, further developing the next generation of Australian swimmers. There were around 70 little gun swimmers who were split into three groups and rotated between coaching stations.
Station 1, lead by Darren Howard was focused on technique, speed, power, starts and turns.
Station 2, lead by Olympian Jason Cram was focused on mindset, goal setting, some starts, technique and resilience.
Station 3, lead by Universal Apnea's Head of Performance, Kim Eulo focused on breathing for performance, recovery and managing nerves before racing. Kim taught the kids about their breathing muscles, lung capacity, anatomy and nervous system before getting them in the water to put it all into practice.
Such an amazing program. Great coaching team too! The future of swimming is looking bright!
