Central Coast Council Beach Safety Team / Ocean Lifeguard Training Day.
This week we ran a full day of training for the Ocean Lifeguards ahead of the 2024-2025 Season.
This was a blended program including Universal Apnea dryland training in the latest evidence-based health sciences (anatomy, physiology, human performance, recovery, sleep, survival mechanisms, breathwork, apnea, panic & stress management etc).
The water-based component by Elite Salt Academy involved some intensive training building on skills and drills for surf breathholds, rescue simulations, speed, power, flow, efficiency, endurance, sighting, diving, breath management, mindset & focus.
This program was run by ESA Head Coach and UA Head of Performance Kim Eulo, local active (15yr) Paramedic, Steve Radford and EMC, Dean Lee who both sit on our UA emergency services committee.
This is an amazing team of professional lifeguards. They are very well-rounded watermen with years of experience in and around the water. You'll be in great hands this season.
